FAQ's

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is fundamentally a state of focused and concentrated attention, which may or may not involve physical relaxation. It can also be described as a state of deep focus, relaxation, or even confusion—where the conscious mind becomes absorbed or occupied, allowing the unconscious mind to become more accessible and responsive in creative ways.

In fact, we enter states of hypnosis naturally several times a day. Examples include:

  • Driving across town and arriving at your destination with little or no memory of the drive itself

  • Performing repetitive tasks on autopilot

  • Being deeply immersed in a movie or captivated by music

These everyday moments show how common and natural hypnotic states really are—they're simply shifts in awareness where our conscious attention fades and deeper mental processes take over.

During hypnosis, the conscious mind quiets down—its usual chatter and distractions fade into the background. This shift allows the subconscious mind to become more accessible, receptive, and open to suggestion.

The subconscious plays a central role in shaping how we experience the world. It drives our perceptions, emotions, thoughts, and behaviors—essentially guiding the way we live. Most of its programming was formed early in life and operates according to predictable patterns and internal rules.

When we understand how the subconscious functions, we gain the ability to influence it. Hypnosis provides a direct path to explore and rewrite limiting beliefs stored deep within. In this state, we can uncover outdated mental scripts and replace them with empowering new ones—opening the door to meaningful change and personal growth.

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is an exceptionally transformative form of treatment that can help you break free from emotional pain and issues that causes ongoing suffering. It's also a highly effective tool for changing behaviors and creating lasting positive change.

Despite popular myths, hypnotherapy is not pockets watches moving from left to right until you get sleepy, it is not losing all mental and physical control (acting like a chicken on stage) and it is not a from of mind control. It’s an in-depth interview with your subconscious, which allow you to uncover the root cause and then gently release the associated blocks, issues, habits, and emotions that hold you back from being in a state of Well Being.

Techniques such as Regression Therapy and Parts Therapy are key methods in hypnotherapy used to uncover the root cause of a problem. Once that root is revealed and understood, transformation can happen quickly and with surprising ease—often much faster than traditional therapeutic approaches.

Does Insurance Cover Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is classified under Complementary and Alternative Medicine, and coverage can vary. To find out if your insurance includes hypnotherapy, contact your provider directly. If it’s not covered, you may still be able to claim the expense through a flexible health care spending account — if you have one. And remember, you can save your receipts and claim them when filing your taxes.

Do I Need to Prepare for a Session?

You don’t need to do much to get ready—but here are a few helpful tips:

  • Try to limit caffeine to just one regular-sized cup (about 250ml) before we meet. This helps your mind stay calm and focused.

  • If your session is on Zoom:

    • Find a quiet, comfortable spot where you won’t be disturbed.

    • Use headphones if you can—they help you stay fully tuned in.

    • Turn off your phone or notifications to avoid distractions.

We’ll also go over everything together before we begin, so you’ll feel relaxed, ready and safe

What Happens in a Session?

Your mind has two parts:

  • Conscious mind – the part that thinks, makes decisions, and solves problems.

  • Subconscious mind – where your habits, feelings, and automatic reactions live.

Hypnotherapy helps connect these two parts so you can make lasting changes more easily.

During a session, I will guide you using gentle words and calming images to help you feel relaxed and focused.

You're in a calm state, your subconscious becomes more open to an in depth interview and helpful suggestions—like letting go of fear, building self-confidence, or changing how you respond to situations.

Can I Get Stuck in Hypnosis?

The simple answer is No, its not possible.

Your mind doesn’t lose control—it simply relaxes.
